A special issue of the journal Brazilian Annals of Tourism Studies (Anais Brasileiros de Estudos Turísticos) was published on the sociology of tourism in Portugal, co-organised by CinTurs researcher João Filipe Marques. This special issue is the result of selected papers from the 1st Conference of the Thematic Section "Sociology of Tourism" of the Portuguese Association of Sociology, which took place on the 7-9 of April 2022 at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, and whose organisation was supported by CinTurs. On 15 January, CinTurs organised the workshop "Inteligencia Artificial y Turismo Sostenible: Un Enfoque desde la Planificación" with guest speakers Diego Barbadilla, Rocío Yñiguez and Eva Buitrago from the University of Seville, Spain. The initiative had the support of the European project Sustainable Horizons. Read more .
On 16 January, CinTurs' researchers Nelson Matos, Ana Rita Cruz, Maria Inês Galvão and Ana Bender gave a presentation on CinTurs and its research on tourism in the Algarve to a study group from the Lohmar Institute for Continuing Education e.V., Germany.
CinTurs is a co-organiser of the CES Summer School "Critical Approaches to the Sustainable Transformation", to be held from 15-20 July 2024 at the Faculty of Economics, University of the Algarve. The applications are open. Read more.
Every year, CinTurs hosts trainees funded by the Erasmus+ programme under a cooperation protocol with the University of Florence, Italy. In February, we will welcome two students who will work on the topics of tourist-cultural routes and networks and the political economy perspective of tourism. Read more .
