We
are proud to highlight CinTurs researchers Alector Ribeiro, Dora
Agapito, Scott Cohen and Thomas Panagopoulos who are part of the
prestigious Stanford University / Elsevier's Top 2% Scientists 2025
list. This international recognition underlines the relevance and impact
of the research developed at our center.
The
excellence of CinTurs is also reflected in the members of its Advisory
Board. Dogan Gursoy, Alfonso Vargas Sanchez, Robin Nunkoo, Noel Scott, James Higham, Judith Mair and Serena
Volo were also distinguished in the list of the Top 2% Scientists 2025,
reinforcing the center's connection to leading researchers at a global
level.
On September 25, CinTurs, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, organized the workshop "Topic Modelling for Doing Research". This workshop was designed for professors, doctoral students, and researchers interested in applying artificial intelligence techniques to enrich their research and open new opportunities for scientific collaboration. The lecturer was Professor Victor López from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic). Read More.
On October 30, CinTurs will welcome Professor Fevzi Okumus from University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management who will present a lecture exploring “How to Become an Impactful Academic” by balancing research, teaching, service, and societal engagement.
CinTurs is delighted to share the news of UNESCO’s official recognition of the Algarvensis Geopark. In the application stage, while it was still an Aspiring Geopark, CinTurs played an active role by contributing to the report “Shaping the Future: Strategic Insights for Geotourism Development in the Aspiring Geopark Algarvensis”. Building on this work, in May 2025 CinTurs and the Geopark Algarvensis, in collaboration with the University of Algarve, completed a second report entitled “Strategic-to-Action Marketing Blueprint for the Algarvensis Geopark”. This document provides a Marketing and Branding strategy designed to position Algarvensis as a national and international reference in sustainable geotourism.
