Networking

Manuela Guerreiro and Hugo Pinto, researchers at CinTurs, participated in the B2B Networking Session 'Companies X Research Centres', held on 16 April at the UAlg TEC Campus as part of the TEC Launcher Acceleration Programme. The aim of this initiative is to support startups and technology companies in the region in consolidating and growing their businesses. A key part of this strategy is fostering direct contact between companies and the main agents of the regional innovation ecosystem. Read more.

Conference

Ana Rita Cruz, researcher at CinTurs, was recently invited by the Families and Life Course Thematic Section of the Portuguese Sociological Association to contribute to a timely discussion on the touristification process and the surge of short-term rentals in Portugal and the Algarve. Her presentation focused on the impacts of these phenomena on housing and the responses from public policy. The talk was delivered as part of the International Seminar “All in the Same Boat: Housing Challenges over the Lifecourse”, held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve. Read more.

Research Visit

Recently, Scott Cohen, a CinTurs researcher, made a research visit to Copenhagen Business School. As part of initiating a collaborative project, he delivered a guest lecture on the ‘Marketing Ethics’ module and gave an invited guest presentation at the NEST (Network for Emerging Scholars in Tourism) conference. He also participated in a panel session. In recognition of these contributions, he was appointed Senior Fellow of NEST.

New Fact Sheet

CinTurs has updated its fact sheet to include information on the centre's key productivity indicators. It provides a brief overview of CinTurs' most significant achievements at the end of the 2018–2024 period, as well as at the start of the new cycle from 2024 onwards. Read more .
