In 2025, CinTurs is launching a new cycle of seminars entitled "Industry meets Academy", with the aim of strengthening its links with the region and society. Luís Coelho, Dean of the School of Economics of the University of Algarve (FEUAlg) will chair this series of seminars. The first guest speaker will be Dr André Gomes, President of the Algarve Tourism Board, who will present the "Strategic Marketing Plan for Algarve Tourism 2028" (PMETA 2028), considered an important guide for the region's future. The seminar will take place on 16 January at 17h00 at FEUAlg, Gambelas Campus, Faro. Read more.
The final issue of the Journal of Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (JTSW) in 2024 features five articles that highlight the importance of addressing challenges such as overtourism, digital accessibility and environmental awareness to create a more sustainable and equitable tourism industry. Taken together, the articles highlight the growing need for sustainability, resilience and inclusiveness in tourism development. Read more.
From 15 to 17 October 2025, the University of the Algarve will host the 10th Conference of the International Research Network in Sport Tourism, with the theme "Sustainable Governance and Destination Management". It is organised by the School of Education and Communication (ESEC), the International Research Network in Sport Tourism (IRNIST) and the Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (CinTurs). A group of CinTurs researchers attended the XVI edition of the International Tourism Congress (ITC'24) on "The Image and Sustainability of Tourist Destinations", held in Cape Verde, in the city of Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente, at the Technical University of the Atlantic (UTA), from 27 to 29 November.
